Successful completion of the ARTP certification of competence includes entry onto the ARTP National Spirometry Register for 12 months.

Each year you will be required to renew your certificate for a further 12 months at a cost of £40. From 3 Nov 2025, the National Spirometry Register renewal fee will be reduced from £40 to £35, following ARTP’s transition to direct management of the register. This will ensure your name remains on the register and your certificate remains valid. Recertification simply involves completing an online annual declaration of maintaining competency in the spirometry certification level, along with the payment of the renewal fee. Your renewal invitation will be sent 8 weeks prior to your certificate expiring.

If you missed the renewal window, you can still renew your certificate up to 1 year after your certificate expires by paying a renewal fee along with a £10 late fee. This will extend your certificate's expiry date by 12 months (the extension is not based on your payment date).

As part of the renewal declaration you will agree to take part in an audit process if required. The spirometry audit takes place each year and only 5% of the register will be chosen at random to take part in this. You will be notified if you have been selected for this.

How do I renew my Spirometry Certificate?

The spirometry recertification process is quick and easy to do. All that is required is to:
1) Follow the link within the notification email
2) Update your personal details if changed
3) In your Portal click, 'Action Renewal'.
5) Complete the declaration
4) Pay the annual fee by credit/debit card (payment by invoice is not accepted)
5) A receipt & your certificate will be emailed to you immediatley
6) Your new certificate date will be updated on the register as soon as you renew

Will I need to provide a portfolio of evidence to renew?

No, not at the time of renewal. An audit will be performed each year and only 5% of the register will be selected at random to be part this audit process. Click here for more information on the Spirometry Audit.

I have not yet received my email invitation to renew, what should I do?

Your email invitation to renew will go out 8 weeks prior to the certificate expiring. It will be sent directly from your spirometry portal the email for this is [email protected]. Please ensure you check your junk mail for this, if you have still not recieved it please contact [email protected]

When does my ARTP Spirometry certificate expire?

Your ARTP Spirometry certificate expiry date will be displayed on your certificate. Please log into the Portal, using the button above, to access your certificate.
