Quality Assured Diagnostic Spirometry

Spirometry plays a key role in the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions. It is therefore essential that this test is performed to a high standard. If performed incorrectly, there is a danger of misdiagnosis which can have significant implications for patient care.

ARTP recognise that spirometry is performed by a wide range of professionals. The certification process aims to support any healthcare professional, whose role includes performing spirometry, to have the confidence and recognition that they are providing high quality testing for the patient. The process also aims to give patients confidence that their results are accurate and will be used to support their treatment and management plan. The certification process enables professionals to enrol on the national spirometry register which is recommended by CQC and NHS England.

ARTP are committed to ensuring this process is accessible and fair, without compromising on the standards expected.
